Used to love going to Petco, but recently the place has gone downhill. They used to have an awesome selection of fish and now they barely have anything. The store itself is very dirty and it's hard to find someone when you need help.
I brought in my golden doodle the other day and met the manager Mike. He started talking to me about food I should feed my dog and showed me to the most expensive food they sold. I told him that the vet prescribed my dog a special kind of food only available at the vet office. He then told me to ignore them because they are only after my money, and that the Petco sold food is guaranteed, allergy free, etc. if I bought it from him. This turned me off and I left. Thanks for nothing!
Looks alright from the outside but go inside and holy heck it's bad. For starters no one at the registers which adds to the theft risk. Secondly walk to the first fish wall facing the windows outside all drained and covered up due to failure along with the frozen reptile food with a sign to check the dog freezer. I'm sorry what??!!! Frozen rats with dog food is beyond disturbing. The biggest issue a girl who works their claims she actually keeps wild caught by her own hand water snakes with out a permit or any understanding of proper handling as she had bites all over hands and addmitted she had been bitten several times the previous day catching a water snake. In Ohio unless captive bred it's illegal to keep native species but she advocated keeping wild caught animals without going through the proper process.
Manager afraid to handle the pet. Scooped the hampster up by his house rather than touching the animal. Did not impress me as a place that loved animals.
